Nova Warranty, a direct administrator of vehicle service programs for luxury and exotic vehicles, has issued guidance for Audi owners weighing their protection options in the wake of a recall affecting thousands of 2026 Q3 models across North America.

According to a recall notice reported by Carscoops, a total of 6,077 examples of the 2026 Audi Q3 are being recalled in the United States, along with 1,336 units in Canada. The affected vehicles were manufactured between November 26, 2025, and March 20, 2026. Audi has stated that the sunroof control unit contains an incorrectly programmed target data container, which may cause the sunroof closing function to fall short of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Audi has indicated it is not aware of any crashes, fires, injuries, or deaths connected to the defect, and dealerships have been instructed to install updated software beginning May 29.

While the recall itself will be handled by Audi at no cost to owners, the situation has renewed attention on longer-term coverage once factory protection ends. Every new Audi arrives with a four-year, 50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty and four years of roadside assistance. Manufacturer extension plans can only be purchased while the factory warranty remains active, leaving owners of older models without a manufacturer-backed path once that window closes.

Nova Warranty offers an Audi extended warranty for vehicles that have already passed the factory coverage period, providing repair protection for Audi models including the A3, A4, Q5, Q8, A7, A8, and R8. Coverage under Nova Warranty's protection plans spans components such as the cooling system, clutch, hi-tech electronics, steering system, and transmission and trans-axle, along with 24-hour roadside assistance and towing.

"Recalls remind owners how complex modern Audi vehicles have become, from advanced electronics to intricate mechanical systems," said a spokesperson for Nova Warranty. "When a factory warranty expires, drivers still want assurance that unexpected repairs will not become a financial burden, and that is the gap these programs are built to close."

The company administers two primary tiers of coverage. The Nova Superior plan covers essential components including the engine, transmission and trans-axle, drive axle, electrical systems, cooling system, brakes, turbos and superchargers, suspension, steering, and air conditioning and heating. The Nova Powertrain plan provides a more focused range of protection for core drivetrain components. Both include benefits such as roadside assistance, towing, and coverage for parts and labor.

"Transparency matters as much as coverage," the spokesperson added. "Owners should understand what is and is not covered before they commit, and clear communication about cost and terms is central to how these plans are structured."

Nova Warranty is a direct administrator of vehicle service programs and does not sell warranties. The company specializes in coverage for luxury, exotic, and daily-driven vehicles, and administers programs for a wide range of manufacturers in addition to Audi, including BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Lamborghini. Established as Nova Warranty, LLC, the company focuses on comprehensive protection plans, flexible terms, and daily customer support for vehicle owners seeking coverage beyond the factory period.
